Vacation Day 6: The Empress and the Ferry Ride Home!

On Friday, we checked out of the hotel and had breakfast out, then went to check out Christmas Village: The Original. This was a big mistake. The man who owns the store followed us around, afraid the kids would touch something. It was bad. We definitely won't go back. Who knew that the Grinch would own a Christmas store?! After that, we spend some time looking around the "touristy" stores and then I took the girls to the Empress Hotel to look around. I had planned to take Abby to high tea at the Empress, but we ran out of time, so we'll have to save it for our next trip to Victoria. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and was beautiful.

Riding an elephant outside the Safari Room.

The Tea Room.

The Grinch Tree was the girls' favorite.

After the trip through the Empress, we checked in at the Ferry and parked the car in line, then went to lunch. We had to be back at 2:30pm to get on the 4:00 ferry, so after lunch, we headed back to the car.

The trip on the ferry was rough on the way back. The whole boat was rocking and even Bill felt a little sea sick. Libby, crawled up on my lap and fell asleep, sleeping through most of it. That kid can sleep anywhere!

Before we left home, Grammy Paula put together bags for the girls with art supplies and we added coloring books from Aunt Rhonda. They all came in very handy for keeping the girls entertained on the ferry and in the hotel room.

Big waves and rough seas. No pretty pictures out on the deck this time!

After getting off the ferry, we had about a 5 hour drive home. We arrived at 11:30 pm. It was a great time, even if it was exhausting!
