Baby Beers 3 Ultrasound!

On Thursday, August 12th, we went in for a 20 week ultrasound for Baby Beers. The girls have a book where the little boy in the book gets to go to an ultrasound for his younger sibling, so they really wanted to be able to go. We took them, which was not maybe our best plan ever. Kids in books are much better behaved than the ones in real life! They had a really hard time sitting still for the procedure. To top things off, the baby was in a weird position with his/her (we intentionally chose not to find out the baby's sex) arms tucked up under his/her body, so there were things the ultrasound tech needed to see that she couldn't. Apparently, none of our children wanted to cooperate that day! So, we will be going back to have another ultrasound in a month...and not taking the girls this time. We did, however, get a couple of nice pictures.

Michael's 5th birthday party.

We had quite a day today. After the Crawfish Festival parade, we headed to Chuck E. Cheese for Michael's fifth birthday party. Bill had a bunch of guys coming over, so Grandma Delphine came up to help me out. Yay, Mimi! Libby loves the racing games. She's in training to to be a rally driver.

Am I cute or what?!

Air hockey.

Slide. Libby was not impressed with the actual Chucky. She hid her head and screamed when he came around the first time.

Whee.

Abby's a crazy driver.

Party time!

Tualatin Crawfish Festival!

Every year, Tualatin has a two day event called the Crawfish Festival. This year, it was August 13th and 14th. There is a parade and a street fair and other activities. For several years, the daycare that the girls are now going to has had an entry in the parade. This year, Abby and Libby got to be part of it! We arrived a little after eight this morning and the kids started getting ready for their big debut. This year's theme was Fiesta! Here is Abby in her sombrero.

The dance was great and they won first prize for their category. A blue ribbon year!

All ready to go!

Libby and Alex were too little to ride in the truck, so they were going to be pulled in a wagon, but at the last minute, Libby changed her mind. She ended up just watching the parade with Mommy and Mimi. Maybe next year.

Abby's 5th Birthday Party!

Abby turned 5 on August 1st and we decided to have a birthday party/BBQ on her actual birthday. Abby wanted an "action figures" theme. Here is her cake, complete with Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, and a couple of the other superfriends.

Every year, I plan to make her parties smaller, but that never happens that way! We had about 45 people for this year's blow out. It was a lot of fun. Several of the kids from her daycare even came. Here are Jacob, Elisa, Emma, and Matthew in one of the two wading pools.

The tree house that Bill had just finished was a total hit with all the kids.

Most of the adults also went up to check it out. Here's the view from the tree house as Heather and Kat contemplate trying it out.

Brenden, and Jacob had a sleepover at Abby's request the night before the party. Here is the mural that they created with Abby for the tree house. It depicts Abby and Libby being rescued from the high tower by the boys.

Unfortunately, with all the people, I got a little too into playing hostess and didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked. I'm hoping to get some more from our guests to post later.
