Day trip!

After the sleep-over in the backyard, we had a beautiful sunny day...the first one of the whole year, so we decided to take the girls on a little road trip to see things around Portland. We had never taken the kids to what we always called Rocky Butte (but what is really Joseph Wood Hill Park), so we headed out to SE Portland.

Headed up the stairs!

This is what AOL travel has to say about the park. "From the top of Rocky Butte in Joseph Hill Park, you'll have a gorgeous 360-degree view of the Columbia River and Gorge to the east, the Portland airport to the north, downtown Portland to the west and southeast Portland to the south. A grassy area with red cinder paths can be found in this park as well as hand carved stone walls and benches. These stone walls are a favorite spot for local climbers. Decorative lights resting on stone pedestals illuminate the park at night. This park is named after J.W. Hill (1856-1930), who managed the Bishop Grammar and Divinity School in 1878 and went on to establish the Hill Military Academy in 1901."

Next, we headed out to Oxbow Park outside of Troutdale to do some recon on the campground as a potential camping trip destination.

The coolest slide at Oxbow Park!

Whee!

More slides...

Bouncing!

The park looks like fun. We will definitely consider camping there.

Camping in the backyard!

Bill had promised the girls that they could all camp in the new tent trailer, so last weekend, they headed to try it out.

The next morning, Bill set up a campfire in the backyard.

The girls have definitely grown since the last backyard camping trip.

Princess Party!

The weekend after Easter, the girls and I were back at Brendan and Jess's for a Princess Party to celebrate the royal wedding. The girls had a great time, dressing up and playing with their cousins and new friends.

Libby arrived to the party wearing a Snow White outfit. When she got there, we found that another little girl, Collette, was wearing the same outfit. Obviously, all the cool kids were doing it, so Ella went and put her Snow White outfit on too!

Abby's first lost tooth!

April 26th, the night of Bill's birthday, Abby lost her first tooth! She had been wiggling it for a couple of weeks, and she and Bill used some dental floss to pop it out. She was so excited! She put it under her pillow in an envelope marked "Tooth Fairy" and received $5 in quarters for it. Her dad says there has been inflation since we were kids!

Ahhh!
