Spring Planting

Last Tuesday, I finally got around to transplanting the two roses from the back yard to the front of the picture window to replace the bushes that we pulled out earlier.

Check me out, rockin' the work socks!

On Sunday, we went to Freddy's and picked up a load of flowers to plant at the house. I'd built a little flower box for Abby with leftover deck pieces last summer, and she finally got to plant it! She put a daisy in the middle, and pansies on the side.

Even though we weren't being very loud, Libby put on my ear muffs.

Abby's flower box right next to the path.

We still have some strawberries to plant, which should be in this weekend.

Avila Beach.

Friday morning, after having the best chicken fried steak ever, (check out the Apple Farm Restaurant if you're ever in San Luis Obispo,) we packed up and headed for Avila Beach.

Libby heading out to the ocean with Mimi, (the way she is saying Grammy right now.)

Abby and I getting water for her castle's moat.

Rocks!

Kricket, heading out to the water with Libby.

Abby and I working on her castle.

Ella and her grandmother were at the beach too!

Libby, pretty serious about something!

Abby and I, dead tired at the end of the day.

We got into SLO in time for dinner, 3/18/10

The girls, Kricket, Mom and I left PDX for SLO Wednesday night. We stayed in Central Point, then drove straight through to SLO on Thursday.

We made it in time to have dinner at Uncle Mike and Aunt Linda's place.

Abby, Ella and Libby had a good time, and it was great to get out of the car and just relax.

Next day: Avila Beach!

Fixing the Rabbit.

Bryce and Jessica used the Rally Rabbit for a (mostly,) successful Doo Wop Rally earlier this month. There was some carnage however: hood hinges, cowl, RF brake line, RF control arm, R knuckle, some RF fender rearrangement, etc.

We pulled the RF fender to make it easier to beat the cowl back into place and discovered that this long in the tooth rally car was showing some age, namely, some cracks had formed in the sheet metal between the A-pillar and the strut tower.

Aaron and Bryce came over with a nice wire wheel and welder, and we got to work.

Since the RH side looked bad, we went ahead and pulled the LF fender off as well and found some cracking there too, though not nearly so bad.

After both sides were ground down, Aaron patched the LH side.

A quick shot of undercoat.

Bryce did the RH side.

Aaron massaged the fender back into a semblance of its original form.

I painted it, and Jessica and I put it and the LH fenders back on.

New knuckle and brake line on, caliper bolted up.

Spare RH knuckle with lug studs inserted.

Bent hood hinges on top of the new ones.

Back together!

Walk to the park!

Bill is spending the weekend at the Doo Wops Rally in Washington. The girls and I ran some errands this morning, then Heather, Emma, and Carly came over and we took a walk to Ibach park.

Yay, swings!

Carly!

Playing in the sand.

Emma!

Buddies.

Queen of the rocks.

Whee!

Libby!

Abby!
